If there are enough chances and opportunities for the Universe, with the same laws and rules, to turn out exactly like it did for us. If the unobservable Universe, the portion of the Universe that's beyond what we can access due to the finite (in time) nature of the Big Bang, is big enough, then somewhere, there will be another Milky Way, another Sun, another Earth, and another you and me. Theoretically, it's plausible for this to actually reflect our reality. Let's assume we want this to be true: we want parallel Universes to exist. Everett, a student of John Wheeler's is credited with the invention of the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics, spurred on by Wheeler himself.
